Walking on salt and sand

The sound of my footsteps on the salt and sand used to melt the snow around Eastern Market. One of the few times you get to walk on sand in the city...urban beach?

Two alarms!?

this is an audio post - click to play

So as I was posting that last one, a second alarm went off. It is higher pitched and even more irritating than the first, but it doesn't show up real well with the cell phone. Shame, they have different cycles and sometimes they overlap well, and sometimes they are out of phase. It's almost beautiful. Almost.

This is my suitemate's alarm. Right now it's been going off for almost an hour. We knocked, but no luck. Irritating, eh?

That is Joe Reinsel in the background talking at dinner while I am trying to capture the ambience of a restaurant across the street from Johns Hopkins University.

The next few samples are from while shopping at Giant Supermarket. This one is of a child about 7 years old walking past my cell phone. He is stamping his feet and blurting out non-verbal phrases.

I am still in the Giant Supermarket near the frozen food section when an employee made an announcement.

This is the first of a number of audio blogs. Later tonight, I will test the sound from a music concert tonight (Sat. night) at An Die Musik Leroy Jenkins is playing. Turned out that the concert was so good, I decided not to make any recordings. If you ever get a chance to see Jenkins perform take the opportunity. He performed with Myra Melford-- an amazing pianist. It was a stunning evening.

We are working on installing an audio blog. Very soon.
